Usha is the deity of Dawn
- पृथू रथो दक्षिणाया अयोज्यैनं देवासो अमृतासो अस्थुः । कृष्णादुदस्थादर्या विहायाश्चिकित्सन्ती मानुषाय क्षयाय ॥

O Dawn, harnessing (Ayoji) your chariot (Ratha) in the wide and extended (Prthuu) (sky) with the immortal (Amrtaasah) devas abiding (Asthuh) in it, you the skilful (Dakssinnaayaa) mistress (Aryaa) has risen (Ud-Asthaad) from darkness (Krssnnaad) in the sky (Vihaayaah) and is healing (Cikitsantii) mankind (Maanussaaya) from the lethargy (Kssayaaya) (of the night).
