3. Devi Yoganidra: Appeared when invoked by Lord Brahma; helped Lord Vishnu to slay demons Madhu-Kaitabha.

4. Devi Chandika: Manifested from the combined Tejas of the Tridevas and the devas to slay demon Mahishasura.

5. Devi Kaushiki (Devi Ambika) (Devi Chandika): Manifested from Devi Parvati (when invoked by the devas) to slay demons Shumbha-Nishumbha (in the Himalayas).

6. Devi Kali (Devi Chamunda): Manifested from the angry frown of Devi during the battle with demons Shumbha-Nishumbha (in the Himalayas). Devi slayed demons Chanda and Munda, and later helped slaying demon Raktabija.

7a. Devi Vindhyavasini: Incarnated as the daughter of Yashoda (and sister of Sri Krishna) in the house of Nanda-gopa to slay demons Shumbha and Nishumbha (in the Vindhya mountain).
Note: This Shumbha and Nishumbha is the rebirth of the previous Shumbha and Nishumbha whom the Devi slayed in the Himalayas.

9. Devi Shakambhari (Devi Shatakshi) (Devi Durga): Devi appeared when invoked by the munis during the time of a great famine. Devi provided life-sustaining fruits and vegetables and saved the earth. Devi then slayed demon Durgama and retrieved the Vedas (which was the cause of the famine).
