Greatness: The Baidyanath Temple of Deogarh is identified with the Vaidyanatha
Jyotirlinga mentioned in the Shiva Purana, as well as the Vaidyanatha
Shakti Peetha mentioned in the Peetha Nirnaya Tantra.

Puranic Events:

Lord Shiva & Ravana: Vaidyanath kshetra is the place where the Linga of Lord Shiva got fixed, which was given to Ravana by Lord Shiva himself as a boon for his penance at Kailasha.

Devi Sati & Vaidyanatha Shakti Peetha: Vaidyanath kshetra is the place where the Hridaya (Heart) of Devi had fallen. The Devi there is known as Jaya Durga and the Bhairava is called Vaidyanatha.
