• Greatness:


Lord Shiva Omkareshwara JyotirlingaOmkareshwara is primarily a Shiva Sthalam (Pilgrimage of Shiva):
- Lord Shiva abides in Omkareshwara as a Jyotirlinga (Linga of Jyoti) [Somanatha, Mallikarjuna, Mahakaleshwara, Omkareshwara, Kedarnatha, Bhimashankara, Vishwanatha, Tryambakeshwara, Vaidyanatha, Nageshwara, Rameshwara, Grishneshwara] [Omkareshwara Jyotirlinga].
- Lord Shiva granted boon to Vindhya mountain in Omkareshwara (who performed penance here) and abided as Omkareshwara Jyotirlinga.

Devi NarmadaOmkareshwara is also a Narmada Sthalam (Pilgrimage of Narmada):
- Devi Narmada Aarti is performed in Omkareshwara which is an important center on the path of Narmada Parikrama. Some pilgrims start the Narmada Parikrama from Amarkantaka while others start from Omkareshwara.

Sri Adi ShankaracharyaOmkareshwara is also a Sant Sthalam (Place of Saints):
- Sri Adi Shankaracharya (788 - 820 CE?) met his guru Sri Govindapada on the bank of river Narmada. (Shankaracharya Gufa)

Sri Adi Shankaracharya (788 - 820 CE?) met his guru Sri Govindapada on the bank of river Narmada. The Shankaracharya Gufa is identified as the place where Sri Govindapada stayed and meditated. The Shankaracharya Gufa is very close to the Omkareshwar Shiva Temple.
