- Lord Shiva burnt Kama deva and made him Ananga in Anga Kshetra.

Sri Rama and sage VishwamitraAnga is a Rama Sthalam (Pilgrimage of Rama):
- Sri Rama visited Anga Kshetra with sage Vishwamitra and heard the story of Lord Shiva burning Kama deva in that place. Sri Rama crossed the river at Ganga - Sarayu sangama. Sage Vishwamitra told that river Sarayu originates from the Manasa Lake.
