Varanasi Shakti Peetha: Devi Vishalakshi temple of Kashi is a Shakti Peetha identified with the Varanasi Shakti Peetha mentioned in the Peetha Nirnaya Tantra. It is located on the bank of river Ganga, near the Mir Ghat at Varanasi. Another ghat known as Manikarnika Ghat is identified with the place where the ear-rings of Devi fell.

Kundala of Devi falling: Varanasi is the place where the Kundala (Ear-Ring) of Devi had fallen. The Devi there is known as Vishalakshi and the Bhairava is called Kalabhairava. (Peetha Nirnaya Tantra)
