Badrikashrama which is beginningless like the Vedas and where Lord Hari Himself is the presiding deity; where great personages meditated since time immemorial and attained salvation.

Badrikashrama: Badrinath was known as
Badrikashrama in ancient times. It is an ancient pilgrimage of Lord Vishnu which is a
Swayam Vyakta Kshetra as well as a
Divya Desam. It is one of the
All India Char Dham as well as one of the
Uttarakhand Char Dham. The glory of
Badarikashrama is mentioned in the
Skanda Purana - Badarikashrama Mahatmya. According to
Srimad Bhagavatam, Sri Vishnu in his incarnation as sages Nara and Narayana has been undergoing great penance in Badarikashrama since time immemorial for the welfare of the living beings.

Swayam Vyakta Kshetra: Badrinath is one of the eight Swayam Vyakta Kshetras (Sri Rangam, Tirumala, Sri Mushnam, Thotadri, Shalagram, Pushkara, Naimisharanya and Badrinath).

Thiruvadhari Ashramam Divya Desam: Badrinath is one of the 108 Divya Desams known as Thiruvadhari Ashramam Divya Desam.

All India Char Dham: Badrinath is one of the four places of All India Char Dham (Badrinath, Dwarka, Puri and Rameshwaram).

Uttarakhand Char Dham: Badrinath is one of the four places of Uttarakhand Char Dham (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri).
