Sri Rama visiting Shringaverapura and meeting Guha

Shringaverapura: Sri Rama visiting Shringaverapura and meeting Guha:

(Valmiki Ramayana - Ayodhya Kanda - 51 to 52).

Sri Rama meeting Guhaप्रियगुहविनिवेदितपद राम् (Priya-Guha-Vinivedita-Pada Raam): Who met his friend Guha (Nishadraj) (at Shringaverapura).

Meditation: I meditate on Sri Rama visiting Shringaverapura (on the bank of river Ganga) and meeting Guha.

Sri Rama visiting Shringaverapura: During the forest exile Sri Rama reached Shringaverapura on the bank of river Ganga (after crossing the Kosala kingdom). Sri Rama stayed under a huge Ingudi tree. Valmiki Ramayana gives a beautiful description of river Ganga. Read it here.

Sri Rama meeting Guha: Sri Rama met Guha, the king of Nishadas, who was also his dear friend. Guha cordially welcomed Sri Rama and extended his hospitality.

Sri Rama spending a night: Sri Rama spent a night at Shringaverapura lying on the ground on the bank of river Ganga guarded by Lakshmana and Guha.

Sri Rama sending back Sumantra: At Shringaverapura, Sri Rama sent Sumantra back to Ayodhya with his chariot to start his journey on foot.

Sri Rama making his hair matted: Sri Rama also made his hair matted with the latex of the banyan tree. Thus he embraced the vow of ascetic life in Shringaverapura. He removed his matted hairs only in Ayodhya during his coronation after fourteen years.

Sri Rama crossing river Ganga: Sri Rama crossed river Ganga in a boat given by Guha (and then proceeded towards Prayaga). While crossing the river, Devi Sita offered prayers to river Ganga.
