Sri Rama protecting the yagna of Vishwamitra at Siddhashrama

Siddhashrama: Sri Rama protecting the yagna of sage Vishwamitra:

(Valmiki Ramayana - Bala Kanda - 30 to 31)

Sri Rama protecting Yagnaकौशिकमखसंरक्षक राम् (Kaushika-Makha-Samrakshaka Raam) : Who protected the Yagna of sage Vishwamitra.

Meditation: I meditate on Sri Rama protecting the yagna of sage Vishwamitra at Siddhashrama.

Sri Rama protecting the Yagna of sage Vishwamitra at Siddhashrama: After entering Siddhashrama, sage Vishwamitra took the vow of silence to complete a yagna. The other sages told Rama and Lakshmana to guard the yagna for six days and nights from demons who come to create obstacles in the yagna. Sri Rama guarded the yagna for six days and nights. On the last day two demons named Mareecha and Subahu appeared from the sky with an array of demons to stop the yagna. They started pouring spates of blood and tried to destroy the ritual completely. Sri Rama aimed a Manava Astra towards Mareecha and with it flung him hundred yojanas away inside the ocean. With Agneya Astra Sri Rama killed demon Subahu. With Vayavya Astra Sri Rama repelled all the other demons.

Sri Rama spending a night at Siddhashrama: The yagna of Vishwamitra was thus protected. The sages praised Sri Rama. Vishwamitra said that Rama had kept the honour of Siddhashrama (the hermitage of accomplishment) because his yagna also got accomplished here on that day. Sri Rama and Lakshmana spent that night in that hermitage.
