Kashi: Advent of river Ganga:

River Ganga arriving in Kashi:

1. King Bhagiratha brought river Ganga from heaven to Kashi.

2. Devas created river Asi in the south to cut of (like sword) the evil intentions of the sinners.

3. Devas created river Varana in the north to prevent obstacles and hindrances.

4. Lord Shiva installed Dehali-Vinayaka (Vinayaka of the threshold) on the western side to guard Kashi.
