Sage Kardama performing penance at Bindu Sarovara and getting boon

Bindu Sarovara: Sage Kardama performing penance at Bindu Sarovara and getting boon:

(Srimad Bhagavatam - Skanda 3 - 21)

Bindu Sarovara - Penance of sage KardamaMeditation: I meditate on the Kapila Avatara of Lord Vishnu.

Sage Kardama performing penance at Bindu Sarovara: Commanded by Lord Brahma to beget off-springs, sage Kardama performed penance at Bindu Sarovara, on the bank of river Saraswati, for a period of ten thousand years. He worshipped Hari through samadhi (meditation) accompanied by bhakti, surrendering himself to the Lord.

Lord Vishnu giving darshan to sage Kardama: Then, in the Krita Yuga (Satya Yuga), the Lord gave darshan to sage Kardama in his divine form. The Lord was having the splendour of a Sun. He was wearing a garland of white Padma and Utpala (Lotus and Water Lily) flowers. He was bluish in colour and was having beautiful locks of hair. He was having Kirita (Crown) and Kundala (Ear-Rings). He was holding Shankha (Conch), Chakra (Disc), Gada (Mace) and Padma (Lotus). He was having a captivating smile and glance. The Kaushtubha gem was on his chest. He was standing on the air on the shoulders of Garuda. Sage Kardama eulogized the Lord with folded hands.

Lord Vishnu giving boon to sage Kardama: Sage Kardama told his desire to marry a girl of like disposition (to continue creation) who will be like a Dhenu (Cow bearing plenty). The Lord told that he already knew the desire of the sage and arranged for a like-minded girl. The Lord told that on the day after the next day, king Swayambhuva Manu will come to him with queen Satarupa to give their daughter (Devahuti) in marriage to him. In course of time, Devahuti will give birth to nine daughters, through whom the sages will beget children. And He (the Lord) will incarnate through Devahuti (as sage Kapila) and later teach her the philosophy of the tattvas. Finally he (Kardama) will attain self-realization by cleansing his heart by his acts of offering the fruits of work as devotional service.

Beauty Bindu Sarovara: In the holy lake of Bindu Sarovara, the Ashru-Bindu (Tear-drops) of Kripa (Compassion) of the Lord had fallen, due to the compassion for Kardama who has sought his protection. Hence the holy lake is known as Bindu Sarovara. The holy Bindu Sarovara overflowed with the waters of river Saraswati. Eminent sages resort to this place for penance. The shore of the holy lake Bindu Sarovara is adorned with Trees and Creepers which provide fruits and flowers in all seasons. The cries of various animals and birds are heard in that forested region. The overjoyed birds sing, the peacocks dance, and the cuckoos call each other. The flowering trees and plants include Kadamba, Champaka, Ashoka, Karanja, Bakula, Asana, Kunda, Mandara, Kutaja and young Cuta (Mango). The birds include Swans, Ospreys, Cranes, Water-fowls, Chakravaka, Chakora and various other birds. Deers, Boars, Elephants, Monkeys and other wild animals roam around in that place.
