Mathura: Sri Krishna establishing Dwaraka and transporting the Yadavas there (during Kalayavana attack):

• Meditation: I meditate on Sri Krishna establishing Dwaraka and transporting the Yadavas there.

• Sri Krishna establishing Dwaraka and transporting the Yadavas there (during Kalayavana attack): Just before Jarasandha was about to start his eighteenth expedition against Sri Krishna, Kalyavana laid seige to Mathura. Kalyavana (an attacker of foreign origin) thought himself to be the most powerful man whom no one can defeat. Narada told him about Sri Krishna and prompted him to attack Mathura.

• Sri Krishna and Balarama thinking: When Kalayavana laid seige in Mathura, Sri Krishna and Balarama thought that Kalyavana has come with a very huge army and Jarasandha is also going to attack any time now. So if Jarasandha attacks when they are busy fighting with Kalyavana, Jarasandha is sure to kill all the inhabitants of Mathura. Therefore, they should build an impregnable fortress and kill Kalyavana by some other means.

• Sri Krishna establishing Dwaraka: Thinking thus, Sri Krishna established Dwarka of twelve yojanas in the middle of the sea through the divine architect Vishwakarma. The city was beautifully built with highways, roads, parks, gardens, halls, houses and temples. The buildings were beautifully decorated with various jewels. The assembly hall was known as Sudharma which had the power of keeping occupants free from hunger and thirst.

• Sri Krishna transferring residents of Mathura to Dwaraka: Sri Krishna then transferred all the residents of Mathura to Dwarka.
