Reaching shrine of Sri Bilvesa

(Ref: Skanda Purana - Purushottama Kshetra Mahatmya - 12 to 13)

Jagannath temple, Puri, Puri district, OdishaMeditation: I meditate on Sri Bilvesa who was eulogized by Sri Krishna to get an underground passage to Patala to destroy the daityas.

Reaching shrine of Kapotesa and Bilvesa: On the second day the king reached Kapotesa and Bilvesa. Kapotesa was full of ponds and trees. Bilvesa was on the eastern side on the sea shore.

Legend of Sri Bilvesa: Sage Narada told the legend of Sri Bilvesa to Indradyumna. Sri Krishna eulogized Lord Shiva there holding a Bilva fruit on his hand to get an underground passage to Patala to destroy the daityas. Lord Shiva became pleased and a passage became available. Sri Krishna went to Patala, vanquished the daityas and returned to Dwarka.
