Sri Rama visiting Atri-Anusuya Ashrama

(Ref: Valmiki Ramayana - Ayodhya Kanda - 117 to 119)

Atri-Anusuya AshramaMeditation: I meditate on Sri Rama visiting the Atri-Anusuya Ashrama at Chitrakoota and spending a night there.

Events:
1. Sri Rama visiting Atri-Anusuya Ashrama: While leaving Chitrakoota Sri Rama visits the hermitage of sage Atri and Devi Anusuya. The sage cordially welcomes Sri Rama as his own son. Devi Sita spends her time with Anusuya.

2. Devi Anusuya giving divine garments to Devi Sita: Devi Anusuya praises Devi Sita for her devotion to her husband. She then tells about the merits of devotion to a husband. Pleased with Devi Sita she gives her divine garments, ornaments and cosmetics. Finally she asks Devi Sita to relate to her the incidents of her swayamvara. Devi Sita tells about her life and her swayamvara in details. Sri Rama was pleased to see Devi Sita adorned with divine garments. Sri Rama spends a night in that hermitage.

Pilgrimage:

Atri-Anusuya Ashrama, Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh Atri-Anusuya Ashrama is located in Chitrakoota. Chitrakoota is spread across the border of Uttar Pradesh (Chitrakoot district) (Chitrakoot - UP) and Madhya Pradesh (Satna district). The ashrama is around 12 km from Ram Ghat and situated in a forested area (Uttar Pradesh). It is believed that in this place Sati Anusuya turned Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva into children. It is also said that river Mandakini originated from Chitrakoot due to the penance of Sati Anusuiya.
