Totapuri initiating Sri Ramakrishna into Sannayasa

Totapuri initiating Sri Ramakrishna into Sannayasa:

Vedanta Sadhana Events:

Ref: Sri Ramakrishna the Great Master - Part 2 - Ch 15: Totapuri initiating Sri Ramakrishna into Sannayasa: On the arrival of the auspicious day, Totapuri initiated Sri Ramakrishna into Sannyasa inside the Sadhan-Kutir at Panchavati during the Brahma-muhurta (around two hours before day-break).

Shraddha rite for the satisfaction of the forefathers: First Totapuri asked Sri Ramakrishna to perform Shraddha and other ceremonies for the satisfaction of the forefathers.

Offering Pinda for the satisfaction of the soul: Then he made Sri Ramakrishna offer Pinda according to scriptural injunctions for the satisfaction of his own soul. With this rite the aspirant renounces the right to the worlds such as Bhur, Bhuva etc.

Performing Viraja Homa: Totapuri then lighted the Homa-fire to offer oblations in it with the recitation of the Mantras. This vow of total renunciation for the sake of God which has come down in an unbroken tradition, kept India well-established in the position of a knower of Brahman. It was as if during that time the holy waters of river Ganga flowing nearby vibrated with joy. It spread the sounds of its murmuring waves in all the quarters.

The Mantras preliminary to the Sannayasa initiation was recited:
May the Truth of the Supreme Brahman reach me.
May the Reality having the characteristic of supreme bliss reach me.
May the indivisible, homogeneous, sweet Reality of Brahman manifest in me.
...
O Supreme Self, I offer as oblations my vital forces and controlling the senses set my mind on You alone.
...

The Viraja Homa was then performed:
May the five elements, earth, water, fire, air and ether, in me be purified. Freed from the blemishes produced by Rajoguna, by virtue of offering oblations, may I attain the nature of the Light of Consciousness Itself - Swaha.
...
May the five sheaths , gross body, vital air, mind, intellect and bliss be purified. Freed from the blemishes produced by Rajoguna, by virtue of offering oblations, may I attain the nature of the Light of Consciousness Itself - Swaha.
...

Offering sacred thread and tuft of hair: Sri Ramakrishna then offered his sacred thread and the tuft of hair on his head as per scriptural injunctions. He then put on a pair of kaupinas and ochre cloth given by the Guru according to custom. Then he sat beside Totapuri to receive the instructions from him.

Describing the knowledge of Brahman: Totapuri then described the knowledge of the Brahman to Sri Ramakrishna.
Brahman is the one substance which is eternally pure, eternally awakened, unlimited by time, space and causation and is absolutely real. By Maya it appears to be divided into names and forms, although in reality it is never divided. During Samadhi this space, time and divisions into names and forms are not perceived and one is established in Brahman. Brahman is of the nature of Existence, Knowledge and Bliss.

Giving various dictum of Vedanta, Totapuri tried to make Sri Ramakrishna attain Samadhi.
