• Sage Vasishtha was the kulaguru of the kings of the Ikshvaku dynasty. Sage Vasishtha guided the Yagnas of King Dasharatha which resulted in the incarnation of Sri Rama.

Ayodhya - Vasishtha Kund (Ayodhya district, Uttar Pradesh): Identified with the place of hermitage of sage Vasishtha in Ayodhya

• Sage Rishyashringa presided over the Putrakameshti Yagna of King Dasharatha (performed near Ayodhya) which resulted in the incarnation of Sri Rama.
