Meaning:
1.1 (I meditate on Sri Jagannatha) Sometimes Who fills the Groves (of Vrindavana) on the banks of river Kalindi (Yamuna) with the Music (of His Flute); The Music which waves and flows gently (like the waving blue waters of river Yamuna itself),
1.2: (There) like a Black Bee Who enjoys the blooming Lotuses (in the form) of the blooming Faces ( Joyful with Bliss ) of the Cowherd Women,
1.3: Whose Lotus Feet is always Worshipped by Ramaa (Devi Lakshmi), Shambhu (Shiva), Brahma, the Lord of the Devas (i.e. Indra Deva) and Sri Ganesha,
1.4: May that Jagannath Swami be the center of my Vision (inner and outer) ( wherever my Eyes go ).

Meaning:
2.1 (I meditate on Sri Jagannatha) Who has a Flute on His Left Hand and wears the Feather of a Peacock over His Head; And wraps over His Hips ...
2.2: ... fine silken Clothes; Who bestows Side-Glances to His Companions from the corner of His Eyes,
2.3: Who always reveals His Divine Leelas abiding in the forest of Vrindavana; the forest which is filled with Sri (Divine presence amidst the beauty of Nature),
2.4: May that Jagannath Swami be the center of my Vision (inner and outer) ( wherever my Eyes go ).

Meaning:
3.1 (I meditate on Sri Jagannatha) Who (resides) on the shore of the great Ocean (of Purushottama Kshetra), (where the Sands) shine like Gold, and on top of the Blue Hill of Nilachala (which seem to be touching the Blue Sky),
3.2: (There) Who reside within a Palace accompanied by His brother Balabhadra, (Balabhadra) who is endowed with great Strength, ...
3.3: ... and with (sister) Subhadra in the middle; Who (residing in Purushottama Kshetra) gives all the Suras (Devas) the opportunity to serve Him (and bring fulfillment in their lives),
3.4: May that Jagannath Swami be the center of my Vision (inner and outer) ( wherever my Eyes go ).

Meaning:
4.1 (I meditate on Sri Jagannatha) Whose Compassion is boundless like an Ocean, and boundless is His Beauty like the Dark Water-Laden Rain-Clouds,
4.2: Who is a delight to both Ramaa (Devi Lakshmi) and Vani (Devi Saraswati), His delightful Charming Face reflecting the Beauty of a Spotlessly Pure Lotus blossoming forth,
4.3: Who is worshipped by the best of the Suras (Devas), and Whose transcendental Glories are sung by the best of the Scriptures,
4.4: May that Jagannath Swami be the center of my Vision (inner and outer) ( wherever my Eyes go ).

5.1 (I meditate on Sri Jagannatha) Who, when He is going mounted on His Ratha (Chariot) along the streets (during the Ratha Yatra festival), and the group of Brahmins ...
5.2: ... start singing His Stuti (Praises) (among the ocean of Devotees surrounding the Ratha); In every Step of this great Yatra, His Ears are open and His Compassionate Heart throbs with the Devotees,
5.3: Who is an Ocean of Compassion and Friend of the whole World; The whole World is like the Son of that Ocean (i.e. like His Son),

Meaning:
6.1 (I meditate on Sri Jagannatha) Supreme Brahman has condensed to create Whose Divine Form, in which the Eyes are like the Petals of a fully-blossomed Lotus,
6.2: Who resides in the Nilachala Parvata (in this World), but Whose Feet are placed on the Head of Ananta (Shesha Naga) (in the World of Transcendance),
6.3: Srimati Radharani Who derives Bliss only from Rasa becomes Happy in Whose Embrace; the Embrace of Whose Beautiful Form filled with Rasa (Sentiment of Divine Love),
6.4: May that Jagannath Swami be the center of my Vision (inner and outer) ( wherever my Eyes go ).

Meaning:
7.1 (I meditate on Sri Jagannatha) O Lord, Neither do I seek Kingdom, Nor Wealth of precious Jewels and Gems (which do not give the bliss I find in God),
7.2: Also, I do not seek Charming Beautiful Woman sought after by all people (because even their charm fades compared to the attraction for God),
7.3: At every time, and at every (cherishable) moment, Whose Acts and Deeds are sung by the Lord of Pramathas (i.e. Shiva) (which forms a meditation on His Essence),
7.4: May that Jagannath Swami be the center of my Vision (inner and outer) ( wherever my Eyes go ).

Meaning:
8.1 (I meditate on Sri Jagannatha) O Lord, Please take away my attachment towards this Samsara (World) quickly, which is essentially worthless (compared to Your Devotion), O Lord of the Suras,
8.2: Please take away my Sins which have spread without any bounds (due to working in this Samsara wih the sense of attachment, and bereft of Your Love), O Lord of the Yadavas,
8.3: Aho, this is certain, that You give the refuge of Your Lotus Feet to the Miserable and Helpless (when they surrender to You); Therefore ...
8.4: May that Jagannath Swami be the center of my Vision (inner and outer) ( wherever my Eyes go ).

Sarva-Paapa_Vishuddha-[A]atmaa Vissnnu-Lokam Sa Gacchati ||9||

9.1 This sacred Jagannath-Ashtakam, he who recites with a sense of Devotion and Purity, ...
9.2: ... All his Sins get cleansed and he becomes such Pure-Hearted that he goes to Vishnu Loka (The abode of Vishnu).
