Kumbashi (Anegudde Vinayaka) - Mukti Sthala of Karnataka

• Meditation:

Anegudda Vinayaka Temple, Kumbhasi, Udupi district, KarnatakaKumbashi: I meditate on Sri Anegudde Vinayaka abiding in the Mukti Sthala of Kumbashi.

• Greatness:

Kumbashi is a Mukti Sthala of Karnataka (Bestower of Liberation) [Kollur, Udupi, Gokarna, Subramanya, Kumbashi, Koteshwara, Shankaranarayana]

Legend of Kumbhasura: Sage Agastya was performing a penance to appease the Rain-god (Varuna deva) during the time of drought. Demon Kumbhasura started creating impediments to the Yagna. Bhima (one of the Pandavas) with the blessings of Sri Ganesha got a weapon through which he slayed Kumbhasura.

Meaning of Anegudde: 'Aane' means 'Elephant' and 'Gudde', means 'hillock'. So Anegudde is the hillock on which Sri Ganesha abides.
