• Greatness:

Sri ParashuramaJanapav (Janapav Kuti) is a Parashurama Sthalam (Pilgrimage of Parashurama). It is a hill identified as the place of incarnation of Sri Parashurama. It is said to be the place where the hermitage of sage Jamadagni was situated.

-- Janapav Hill is located on the Vindhya mountain range. On top of the Janapav Hill is a temple of Sri Parashurama, a Parashurama Kund, an ancient Shiva temple and an ancient Kalbhairav temple. The Parashurama Kund is said to be the origin of many rivers like Chambal. The entire atmosphere is serene and spiritual.

• Puranic Events:

1. Presence of Sri Parashurama at Jamadagni Ashrama:
(Refer to Parashurama Avatara)
(1) Sri Parashurama was the son of sage Jamadagni and Devi Renuka.
(2) King Kartavirya Arjuna tried to take away the divine cow of sage Jamadagni from the ashrama and in the process killed the sage. Sage Bhrigu revived sage Jamadagni but Parashurama punished king Kartavirya by killing him in a battle in Mahishmati.
(3) The sons of king Kartavirya Arjuna killed sage Jamadagni in the ashrama as a revenge for the killing of their father. Parashurama punished them by destroying the Kshatriyas twenty one times.
