Pilgrimages and Temples of Lord Vamana (or Trivikrama)

Introduction:

Lord Vamana is the 5th incarnation among the ten major incarnations of Lord Vishnu (Dasavataras) who are widely remembered and quoted. Lord Narasimha is the 15th incarnation among the series of incarnations of Lord Vishnu mentioned in the Srimad Bhagavatam. The major purpose of the incarnation of Lord Vamana was to get back the kingdom (Swarga Loka) of the Devas from king Mahabali.

The incarnation of Lord Vamana was short in stature and a brahmana in form. He went to the Yagna of king Mahabali who was on the path of conducting the 100th Ashwamedha Yagna and become Indra himself. Lord Vamana had incarnated as the son of sage Kashyapa and Devi Aditi to get back the kingdom of their son Indra.

Lord Vamana asked for three paces of land and by making his form huge (Trivikrama) measured the three Lokas with his two paces. King Mahabali who was a devotee of Lord Vishnu asked the third pace to be put on his head (for which he will richly endowed with boons). The paces of Lord Vamana demonstrated that the entire creation belongs to the Lord, and the greatest empire is like three paces of land. Also, the Feet of the Lord is always available for the devotees to surrender themselves and become part of the Lord's devotional kingdom.

The incarnation of Lord Vamana was a brief incarnation, but his impact is widespread. The expanse of Lord Trivikrama is symbolized as his idol and worshipped in various places. It is like the kingdom of the Lord for one to surrender and expand themselves.
