Sri Rama hearing the story of the appearance of Devi Sita in Mithila

Mithila: Sri Rama hearing the story of the appearance of Devi Sita:

(Valmiki Ramayana - Bala Kanda - 66)

Devi Sita appearingMeditation: I meditate on Sri Rama hearing the story of the appearance of Devi Sita from king Janaka.

Sri Rama hearing the story of the appearance of Devi Sita: While king Janaka was ploughing the field for purifying it (for ritual), the plough raised (a baby girl known as ) Sita. She was not born from the womb but was raised from the earth. King Janaka decided to give here in marriage to someone who can string the bow of Lord Shiva. Many kings came but were unable to even catch hold of the bow. Becoming angry they attacked Mithila. King Janaka through his penance pleased the gods who sent their army and drove out the enemies.
