Creation of Kashi
Kashi: Creation of Kashi:
(Skanda Purana - Kashi Khanda - 26)

•
Meditation: I meditate on Kashi which bestows liberation.
•
Lord Shiva creating Kashi:
1. At the time of ultimate annihilation, the Supreme Absolute alone existed. It had a desire for a second one. A form was evolved by the formless being. That form is
Lord Shiva.
2.
Lord Shiva created
Shakti (Prakriti) from his body who is inseparable from Shiva.
3. Simultaneously, Kashi was created by
Lord Shiva for his holy sport (before creation of Earth and water). Kashi extends to five kroshas. Kashi was first named as Anandavana because it was the cause of bliss.
