Kamakshi Amman Temple, Mangadu, Chennai suburb (காமாக்ஷி அம்மன்)

The Kamakshi Amman Temple is located in Mangadu, in Chennai suburb. The temple is near the Mangadu bus stop. While going towards Poonamallee from Porur, Mangadu can be reached by taking the left turn at Kumananchavadi (before Poonamallee) and going around 3-4 km towards Kundrathur.

Description:

The Kamakshi Amman Temple is dedicated to Divine Mother Shakti as Kamakshi Amman.

Place of penance of Devi Kamakshi Amman:

In Mangadu Devi Kamakshi Amman did penance standing on a Panchagni, to be united with Sri Shiva. As a result of the penance Sri Shiva appeared before the Devi and married Her at Kanchipuram. The temple also has an Ardhameru Chakram which is said to be installed by Sri Adi Shankaracharya.
