The Kapaleeswarar Temple at Mylapore is a Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam. Devi Parvati in the form of a peacock is said to have worshipped Lord Shiva here. Also Thirugnana Sambandar restored the life of Poompavai, the daughter of a devotee of Lord Shiva (Sivanesa Chettiar) from the ashes in this place.
