Punjab Plain

• Sacred Geography:

The Punjab Plain consists of the Plain of Indus. Five rivers merge together forming Panjnad and join the river Indus (सिन्धु - Sindhu) on the Pakistan side of the Punjab Plain. The river Indus finally merges with the Arabian Sea near Karachi.

The five rivers are:
▬ River Jhelum (वितस्ता - Vitasta) flows
▬ River Chenab (चन्द्रभागा - Candrabhaga) (असिक्नी - Asikni) flows
▬ River Ravi (इरावती - Iravati) (ऐरावती - Airavati) (परुष्णी - Parushni) flows
▬ River Sutlej (शतद्रु - Shatadru) flows
▬ River Beas (विपाशा - Vipasha) flows

Apart from these the ancient river Saraswati (सरस्वती) flows through Pehowa (Pitrudhak Teertha).
The ancient Kurukshetra lies between rivers Saraswati (सरस्वती) and Drishadvati (दृषद्वती).
