Dev Prayag - Confluence of rivers Alakananda and Bhagirathi

• Meditation:
- Dev Prayag: I meditate on Dev Prayag which is the confluence of rivers Alakananda and Bhagirathi giving rise to river Ganga.

देवि सुरेश्वरि भगवति गङ्गे त्रिभुवनतारिणि तरलतरङ्गे ।
शङ्करमौलिविहारिणि विमले मम मतिरास्तां तव पदकमले ॥
- Ganga Stotram - verse 1 (Rivers Alakananda and Bhagirathi which are headstreams of river Ganga meet at Dev Prayag and forms river Ganga)

• Dev Prayag is a Uttarakhand Pancha Prayag (5 sacred confluences of rivers in Uttarakhand) [Dev Prayag, Rudra Prayag, Karna Prayag, Nanda Prayag, Vishnu Prayag]

• Dev Prayag is a Divya Desam (Glorified by Alvars) [Thirukandamennum Katinagar Divya Desam]

• Dev Prayag is the place where sage Dev Sharma have performed penance (due to which this place is known as Dev Prayag).

• Dev Prayag is the place where king Dasharatha and Sri Rama meditated.

• Dev Prayag is the place where the sacred river Alakananda flows, and the confluence of rivers Alakananda and Bhagirathi gives rise to river Ganga.
