Tirumala (Venkatachala)

Sri VenkateswaraMeditation: I meditate on the ancient Venkatachala which is the abode of Sri Venkateshwara.

Venkatachala: Tirumala was known as Venkatachala in ancient times. It is an ancient pilgrimage of Lord Vishnu which is a Swayam Vyakta Kshetra as well as a Divya Desam. The glory of Venkatachala is mentioned in the Skanda Purana - Venkatachala Mahatmya.

Swayam Vyakta Kshetra: Venkatachala is one of the eight Swayam Vyakta Kshetras (Sri Rangam, Tirumala, Sri Mushnam, Thotadri, Shalagram, Pushkara, Naimisharanya and Badrinath).

Thirupathi Divya Desam: Tirumala is one of the 108 Divya Desams known as Thiruvadhari Ashramam Divya Desam.

• Tirumala is located in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.
